If you already live in the Czech Republic thanks to a long-term visa or employment card and you would like to get a Czech permanent residence this article is right for you. Permanent residence enables you to enjoy virtually all benefits as citizens of the Czech Republic enjoy so it is worth it. However, the process itself can be intimidating so below are listed individual categories and things to keep in mind when applying.
Are You EU Citizen?
If you are EU citizen, then the process is going to be easier. The first condition is five years of continuous temporary residence. So simply if you are living in the Czech Republic for more than five years you can apply for permanent residence.
The following requirements must be submitted with the application:
- 2 photographs,
- proof of accommodation,
- a document confirming that you have already met the condition of 5 years continuous temporary residence,
- a travel document (you must submit an original).
2. Are You Non-EU Citizen And Your Family Member Is an EU Citizen?
If your family member is already a citizen of the Czech republic who has registered permanent residence in the Czech republic or your family member is a EU citizen who has permanent residence permit for staying in the Czech Republic, then you can apply for permanent residence permit after two years of continuous temporary residence in the Czech Republic.
You will need to attach these documents to the application:
- a document proving that you are a family member of an EU citizen,
- a document confirming that you have already met the condition of 2 years continuous temporary residence,
- a travel document (you must submit an original),
- proof of accommodation,
- 2 photographs.
Are You Non-EU citizen?
That is quite simple – you can apply after five years of continuous residence. However, keep in mind that counts only stay based on a long-term visa or long-term residence permit.
You will need to attach these documents to the application:
- proof of accommodation,
- proof of funds,
- a travel document,
- document that proves that you have met the condition of 5 years continuous residence in any EU states as a Blue Cardholder,
- Czech language examination certificate,
- 2 photographs.
Are You EU Blue Cardholder?
If you are already holding EU blue card for five years in any EU state and at the same time you have lived in the Czech Republic for at least two years you can apply for the permanent residence permit.
You will need to attach these documents to the application:
- proof of accommodation,
- proof of funds,
- a travel document,
- document that proves that you have met the condition of 5 years continuous residence in any EU states as a Blue Cardholder,
- Czech language examination certificate,
- 2 photographs.
